Here I've done a better job with the Tarantula.

If you don't agree with me you are obviously not from this planet.

Running man nebula. 2.2 hours of data taken over two nights. Need more data, still a bit grainy.

If you don't agree with me you are obviously not from this planet.

I've just realised these are high res and I can copy the URL with right-click, paste into a new tab, to get the beeeeg version. Very nice.

Tweefo, we don't deserve you.
"Monkey killing monkey killing monkey over pieces of the ground, Silly monkeys, give them thumbs, they make a club and beat their brother down. How they survive, so misguided, is a mystery. Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an eye to heaven, conscious of his fleeting time here" - Tool

Fantastiese foto. Voorwaar 'n produk van baie gedult en vaardigheid.

Thank you for the compliments. This was/is for me a very steep learning curve. Looks like I have mastered the basics now, but there are still some disasters where I just have to delete a whole evening's data.

The Keyhole Nebula and Wishing well star cluster. 31 Photos of 210 seconds each, stacked together to produce this one. Taken on Sunday night from my back garden. Something to do during lockdown, if only the clouds would comply.

Tweefo dis 'n merkwaardige foto. Mens vergeet maklik hoeveel werk in so iets ingaan. Dankie vir die deel. Kan jy die nebula deur jou teleskoop raaksien met die oog, of verg dit 'n kamera?

All great stuff - you're an inspiration. With the sudden clear skies we have nowadays, I have been digging a bit into naked eye sky watching, with a bit of help from Stellarium. Of course, the light pollution is still with us. Dare we hope Eskom collapses completely? :-)

Running Chicken nebula. Rigel no, could not see anything from my light-polluted home. Even on the pre-processed photos, one could only see the cluster clearly.

If you don't agree with me you are obviously not from this planet.

Love it. You are truly a master of rarefied photon manipulation. Those colours!

Well, got up in the wee hours this morning to watch the Lyrid meteor shower. Stood around in the cold for half an hour, saw one very brief, dim one, and it wasn't a Lyrid.

Conclusions: The Lyrid meteor shower is a Chinese hoax. And I should never take up astrophotography, because if I have this luck with naked eye astronomy, you can imagine what my astrophotos will look like.

I think I'll leave it to our resident master... :-)

No master. Spend the whole of last night out there with nothing to show. Different problems with the equipment and me trying to solve it. In the end, a low battery pack was the signal to call it a night.

Enough to make one long for the days when you sat looking through the eyepiece, with sketchpad in hand. :-)
